The importance of independent financial advice…
We believe that independent financial advice is extremely important, especially at a time where personal debt in the UK is greater than the amount of income the whole country produces in a year and only 48% of people are saving adequately for retirement*.
Research appears to support our belief. In 2005, the insurance group AXA conducted an experiment called AXA Avenue. Its goal was to discover whether access to professional advice and increased knowledge about financial planning could improve a person’s financial well-being.
They involved 20 households from a Brighton community, half of whom were given access to an independent financial adviser (IFA) for a year while the other half were left to their own devices.
The results were amazing. On average the households who had access to financial advice
• Were £5,000 better off than those without
• Had increased their savings by over 40%
• Had reduced their debt burden by 22%
• Had increased their net wealth by nearly 5%
And remember, all in just 12 months!
