Our aim is to provide a transparent cost structure to enable you to clearly see what you are paying us for.
We’ve undertaken significant market research and believe that our fee structure is fair and competitive when compared with other advisers.
We’ve found that most clients don’t want to pay an hourly rate for financial advice as they would do with an accountant or solicitor, and this is reflected in the way we charge, outlined below. However, for those clients who do, please contact us for further information.
Cost of Initial Advice
Typically a client will engage with us when they have a financial need or require advice in a specific area.
Usually this requires us to gather information, conduct analysis and research and then prepare a report detailing our findings and/or advice all of which can involve a significant time commitment from us.
We therefore charge a fixed project fee for our advice. This typically ranges between £195 to £1,500 depending on the complexity of the work and the level of expertise required.
The advice fee is payable at the point we present our written recommendations to you, either by invoice or offset against implementation costs.
We believe that charging for our advice in this way benefits both parties for the following reasons:
• You can be confident that our advice is genuine and impartial as it doesn’t rely on a product sale.
• Should our advice lead to the implementation of new investments or policies the above fees would be offset against any implementation costs, ensuring you’re never double charged.
• We will have been fairly paid for the advice given irrespective of whether or not you implement our recommendations.
Implementation Costs
For lump sum investment or pension transfer contributions, we levy a variable charge which reduces for larger investments.
We’ll charge a fee equivalent to 3% on the first £100,000 invested, 2% on the next £100,000 and 1% on anything invested thereafter. For portfolios valued in excess of £1million fees can be negotiated on a case by case basis.
For arranging mortgages our fee is 0.5% of the loan, subject to a minimum charge of £500. Where commission is received by us from a lender this will be used to offset our fee, again avoiding a double charge.
Whilst we charge fees for the majority of work that we undertake, for protection cases we may continue to be paid via commission from a product provider. We will always disclose to you the amount of commission payable prior to you making an application.
